Hi Steve
Even Sprints would have been more accurate than that in the day
I would have expected the wheelbase to be within 1mm each side when new.
The other basic check is across the diagonals. Measure from the top of the kingpin bolt on one side to say one of the rear axle bolts on the other side of the kart. Then measure between the same points on the other diagonal. Ideally these measurements should be within 1mm but that is probably unlikely for a 30 year old chassis.
